API credit
Verinio's unit of payment. Credits are bought once in a pack, never expire, and are spent per API call at whatever flat or size-based cost that action currently has - some actions cost 0 and are free for anyone.
Fetch
The Verinio service that downloads media from a supported source URL, or lists its available formats and file sizes before downloading.
Transcript
The Verinio service that extracts a YouTube video's captions and returns them as TXT, SRT, VTT, or JSON.
Metadata inspect
Reading a file's embedded metadata (codec, duration, EXIF, GPS, device info) without modifying the file.
Metadata sanitize
Stripping identifying metadata from a file — for example EXIF/GPS data from a photo — before it's shared or stored.
Metadata compress
Compressing a file to a smaller size while keeping it usable, via the same metadata endpoint.
Size-based pricing
Verinio's pricing model for downloads: cost scales with the downloaded file's size (about 3.5 credits per MB, 5-credit minimum) instead of a flat per-request fee, since bandwidth is the actual cost driver.
API key
The Bearer token used to authenticate every Verinio API request. Created automatically with your first credit purchase; can be regenerated anytime from the dashboard.
Anonymous usage
Using a Verinio action without an account or API key. Works only for actions currently priced at 0 credits; there's no separate daily quota - anything priced above 0 credits requires signing in.
Free action
Any Verinio action currently priced at 0 credits. Available to anyone, signed in or not, with no daily limit. Which actions are free is set by Verinio and can change - check pricing for the current list.
